With BW:G, Monster and Magic Burner, new BWG content is just waiting on you to make it. With those resources its very easy to make your own races, lifepaths, traits, skills, etc.
For example: Right now I run a campaign for some friends that wanted to play wizards, they all at one point in their own lives stumbled into a lair that was abandoned by a Wizard that has now, unbeknownst to them, left and gone on to greater arcane planes. They all in their own individual way tripped a trap, got caught in some crystal, and have all popped out some years later to find that they’ve had magic abilities awoken inside of them and new companions(maybe) with the same problem. These guys use 2 character sheets, one for their characters old life, and a general wizard template I made for them that uses Art magic. They can FORK appropriate things from their past life, but the stats, skills, health, resources and circles they use are all from their wizard character that I made for them. In the first session alone they began to define what kinds of wizards they were compared to each other as well as who they are now compared to who they were and whether or not thats still a good benefit for them. Some having nothing to lose and are now wizards that can only go up, another thinks his ancestry should grant him some privilege in the land, regardless of it being 150 years later. After the first set of sessions, which are still underway, i highly expect some of these people to discard their old life characters sheets, and some to not do as such. This creates a mix of people looking to start new with new wizard based goals and gives them something to work with since they are in a different time, in a different state of being, and some to seek out the remnants of their past lives with new found abilities to aid them in their families timeless struggle for honor or w/e.
This isnt something used in the BWG system, its something i came up with on my own which through trial and error we got to pretty much work, we feel, perfectly with the mechanics of the game. Theres so much room for you to do what you want without having to go buy an expansion rule set, you just need to be creative and honest about what you’re doing and whether or not it makes sense and would be fair.
