Beginner’s Luck and Earning Tests

If a player uses Beginner’s Luck, does that character only get one test per encounter for the skill to be learned?

Example:

A mouse with no Fighter skill enters a conflict and makes a BL test (earning an ‘X’). Later in the same conflict, the same character needs to test Fighter again. The character uses rules for BL, except no check (or ‘X’ in the case of unskilled use) is given, as only one check (again, ‘X’ in this case) can be earned per conflict.

Furthermore, a character could make a BL test (earning an ‘X’), and then, on the next action, not use BL and instead tap Nature (earning a test for that skill).

Am I correct in this interpretation?

Yes. See Conflicts Earn One Test per Ability or Skill on page 228.

Furthermore, a character could make a BL test (earning an ‘X’), and then, on the next action, not use BL and instead tap Nature (earning a test for that skill).

Am I correct in this interpretation?

Correct. You would earn one test for learning the skill and one test for advancing Nature.
