[Burning Empires]Firefight, what's up with the combat rules?

So is Firefight tied to the setting, or just a sci-fi genera (or one that has firearms and ranged tactics), like Fight! is tied to a melee culture that does not have fire arms.

Khelek,

I don’t really understand the question. FF is as tied to our setting as all of our other mechanics. All of the mechanics in BW/BE are the setting.

Iron and Psychology are big parts of how you will firefight.

It is so hot that you won’t want to buy the book.

Sorry Luke, bad phrasing on my part.

mtiru somewhat answered it, thanks.

we tried to use Firefight in another setting (Serpent Sun), and it was quickly apparent that this was built so well to be a part of BE.

it’s more than just “modern” armed warfare and tactics - Firefight integrates technology and other elements inherent in the Iron Empires universe. if you take those elements away, you don’t have Firefight.

we would have had to seriously modify it to make it functional in Serpent Sun.
