Magic Items: Shadow Symbionts

These are items made of living shadow, sometimes granted to powerful agents of the Veiled Lord. They grant powers and benefits to the wearer, but feed on their life force as well and once worn attach themselves to the wearer. It takes power magic or the intervention of an Immortal Lord to remove them. Anyone who is reduced to Nature 0 while wearing a Shadow Symbiont becomes a Shadow, a mindless shadow creature that exists purely in service to the Veiled Lord.

Shadow Symbiont Mask - Turns a failed roll to not be seen or identified into a successful one, but taxes Nature by the margin of failure. head/worn 1
Shadow Symbiont Cloak - Reduces Nature by one (does not tax!), and in exchange absorbs damage that would kill the wearer (the results of a failed roll where the consequences are death or a Kill conflict). torso/worn 1, hand/carried 1, or pack 2
Shadow Symbiont Gloves - Turns a failed roll that requires dextrous or steady hands into a successful one, but taxes Nature by the margin of failure. hands/worn 2
Shadow Symbiont Boots - Turns a failed roll to not be nimble or move gracefully into a successful one, but taxes Nature by the margin of failure. feet/worn 1

I’m not sure how magic item levels are determined, but these might be lower than they seem because of how expensive their use can be.
