Well, I know where I’ll be May 31st at 23:59 ET. Poised over the refresh button like a meth addicted lab rat.

“And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the forty, which were redeemed from the earth.”

I dont see an option of ordering the comics with the preorder… I would really like to

guess it’s off to da gamming store. they hardly know me know that I dont play D&D…

I will try to get the comics, but right now I’m not having any luck. And I didn’t want to put anything up unless I was certain.

Just to be comprehensive: Cross-posted all over the place:

Hello, nerds!

As you may or may not know, I’m publishing a new game this summer called Burning Empires. It’s kind of like Burning Wheel, but with more oomphf. It’s crazily story-focused and less crunchy on the small end (there’s no more shades, combat’s been streamlined, etc.). And it’s based on the comics of Christopher Moeller.

The game will officially debut in August at GenCon. However, I’m offering a number of preorder deals. Why pay now to receive the game in three months? First, I’ll be honest, as a small press publisher, preorders help out a lot. Second, I’m offering a bunch of special offers that will not be available once the game is released.

June 1st to June 23rd. Preorders ship in August. Check this link for the link to the shopping cart.

BURNING EMPIRES is a complete roleplaying game in a single book.
The book itself is hardcover, 656-pages, full color interior, digest-sized (5.5"x 8.5").
The book contains 400 pieces of artwork – approximately 200 color and 200 sketches/illustrations. The color pieces are from Chris Moeller’s various comics. The sketches and illustrations are either from his sketch books, from out-of-print comics or done specifically for the game. Yup, that’s hundreds of pieces of never-before-seen artwork.

Basic Preorder, $40:
BURNING EMPIRES book and pdf
» All preordered books are signed and numbered by the author

Illustrated Book, $80:
BURNING EMPIRES book with illustration and pdf
» The illustrated books have a character sketch drawn by Chris Moeller on the inside front cover. There are only 40 of these available. They will be numbers 1-40 of the preorders. One per customer!

Limited Edition T-Shirt, $25:
» These t-shirts will only be available to preorder customers.
» Full color wheel on the front, quote on the back. All sizes available.

Signed Print, $20:
» 9" x 14" Prints of the full cover wrap signed by Chris Moeller.

I hope to see you all at cons this summer so we can play!

Looks excellent so far. You earned yourself a customer, which brings me to another question:

Will you be shipping preorders to overseas (Europe, to be precise) and if so, how much will the additional shipping amount to?

On a related note…will the preorder customers be able to download the PDF online, or will it be distributed in a different way (Email or physical shipment of a CD via mail)?

I’m not certain about the pdf distribution yet. But the pdfs will be available after the preorder period closes.

Maybe I missed it, but what quote is on the back of the shirt… and what color will the shirts be?

I beleive the T-shirts will be in one and only true color which is black (C: 0% M: %0 Y: 20% K:100%).

“There is only one real path, the river of fire. Everything else is an illusion.”

To clarify, Luke, will it be a custom sketch? Like “Chris, this is my character. He’s a tough, desperate loner with nothing to lose. He’s the best at what he does, and what he does ain’t pretty. Draw him!” Or will it be a sketch of Chris’ choice: “Mike, this is my five year-old nephew chewing on a stuffed koala. I drew him.”

The latter – though I will push for the former. (no promises).

It’ll be the best drool-encrusted Koala you’ve ever done seen.

It’ll be the former if Luke can figure out how to get your description to me in some reasonable form. And if the request isn’t something like “My Kerrn Warrior is fighting ten-thousand vaylen mutants under the sea.” Single figures only, please.

You made me do this:

The Kerrn is always greener
In somebody else’s anvil
You dream about going up there
But that is a big mistake
Just look at the world around you
Right here on the hammer floor
Such wonderful things surround you
What more is you lookin’ for?

Under the brine
Under the brine
Darling it’s better
Down where it’s wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin’
Full time to floatin’
Under the brine

Down here all the naiven is happy
As off through the waves they roll
The vaylen on the land ain’t happy
They sad ‘cause they in their skull
But vaylen in the bowl is lucky
They in for a worser fate
One day when the boss get hungry
Guess who’s gon’ be on the plate

Under the brine
Under the brine
Nobody beat us
Fry us and eat us
In fricassee
We what the land folks loves to cook
Under the sea we off the hook
We got no troubles
Life is the bubbles
Under the brine
Under the brine
Since life is sweet here
We got the beat here
Even the sturgeon an’ the ray
They get the urge ‘n’ start to play
We got the spirit
You got to hear it
Under the sea

The newt play the flute
The carp play the harp
The plaice play the bass
And they soundin’ sharp
The bass play the brass
The chub play the tub
The fluke is the duke of soul
The ray he can play
The lings on the strings
The trout rockin’ out
The blackfish she sings
The smelt and the sprat
They know where it’s at
An’ oh that blowfish blow

Under the brine
Under the brine
When the sardine
Begin the beguine
It’s music to me
What do they got? A lot of sand
We got a hot crustacean band
Each little clam here
know how to jam here
Under the sea
Each little slug here
Cuttin’ a rug here
Under the sea
Each little snail here
Know how to wail here
That’s why it’s hotter
Under the water
Ya we in luck here
Down in the muck here
Under the brine

points and laughs, mirthlessly, only to keep from crying

Sweet god, make it stop…

You know that’s totally going in the Wiki, right Luke?
