Circles tests and stacked Affiliations

One of my FoNs in our upcoming game is a former Church Inquisitor who has been installed as Archcotare to bring some order to the chaos on the planet (Celedon). As a result of LP traits, he has a bunch of overlapping Affiliations.

Devotees to Fire, 1D affiliation (from Devoted to Fire)
The Church, 3D affiliation (1D from Dregutai)
The Church, 3D reputation (1D from Dregutai)
The Temple of Celedon, 1D affiliation (from Keeper of Fire)
Order of the Seeking Fire, 1D affiliation (from OotSF)

So if I wanted to Circle up an Inquisitor, do I get 8 dice in addition to my base Circles? (I’m assuming there isn’t one locally, so the Temple of Celedon affiliation doesn’t help.) I presume so, but my previous experience with Burning Wheel hasn’t dealt as much with stacked affiliations.

Thanks,

–Paul

I’m pretty sure you should compound Devotees and Temple to “2D Affiliation with Devotees of Fire in the Temple of Celedon”

Your other affs would stand as is.

To Circle up an Inquisitor you’d use Circles+OotSF Aff+Reputation as Archotare.

That works for me.

To Circle up an Inquisitor you’d use Circles+OotSF Aff+Reputation as Archotare.

Why does the affiliation with The Church not come into play here? And when would it?

Thanks,

–Paul

An Archotare is a planetary bishop. His Church Aff is limited to that planet. Terrible, I know. The Inquisition is NOT an organization subordinate to Archotares. They’re part of the council of Metropolitans.

Got it. Thanks.
