The DHB pg. 40 states that Outcast and Warrior may choose a helmet over a shield, but whether Burglar or Ranger have it as an option is slightly ambiguous. My guess is no, but thought I’d see if there’s a consensus.

Burglars have the ability to use helmets and shields, but not to start with either. They start with leather armor and any one weapon (that’s not a crossbow, great sword, halberd or polearm).
Rangers can wear helmets but do not start with one. They start with leather armor and one of the following (your choice): sword, spear, bow or dagger.
