New Class Template

When I create new Torchbearer stuff I just duplicate my “new class template” doc and go to town. Figured I’d share it! Might come in handy f

Class Name
Class: An occupation or title
Stock: Human or non-human stock
Raw Abilities: Will X, Health 8-X. Or divide 8 points between the two abilities; plus special restrictions.
Skills: 13 points for humans (+2 points for non-humans)
Special skill (humans only): Criminal, Haggler, Pathfinder, Survivalist
Wises (humans); Choose or create one wise.
Wises (non-humans): Choice one of two specific wises, then player chooses or creates a second wise
Trait: Name—description.
Starting weapon:
Starting armor:
Alignment: Any, or restrictions

Special rules here (new hometowns, traits, gear, rules, whatever)

<Stock> Nature
Write Nature: <Stock> on your character sheet. Your descriptors are A, B and C. <Stock> characters have a base Nature of 3. Answer the following questions to determine your final starting Nature score, and possibly some traits.

Question relating to Descriptor A
• Option 1, increase Nature by 1.
• Option 2, increase or replace your home trait with <new trait 1>.

Question relating to Descriptor B
• Option 1, increase Nature by 1 but bad thing.
• Option 2, your Nature remains unchanged.

Question relating to Descriptor C
• Option 1, increase Nature by.
• Option 2, increase or replace your home trait with <new trait 2>.

How about those nature questions? Do you hew pretty close to the format there? Do you have any further guidelines for writing nature Qs?

Thor and Luke yell at me when I deviate from the format. Each Nature question should either confirm or counter a character’s Nature descriptor. They can be quite hard to write! One good tell is the harder it is to write a Nature question, the more time you need to work on the core concept of the class.
