New Spain 1666

My group is about to embark on a campaign that takes place just north of Santa Fe in 1666. I of course have chosen to play an Andalusian, Juan Diego de Valdez y Córdoba. The last son of a house that fell in 1641 related to the conspirators of Count-Duke Medina Sidonia

I might be able to skirt by using the Catalonia lifepaths? The Quebecois character would take the American(e) lifepath, no?

But my question, are there any pointers for creating new lifepaths? Obviously, historicity takes precedent, but where would you suggest I start looking for Ute or Pueblo lifepaths?

Any pointers? I know Luke has originally envisioned doing lifepaths from around the world, and boy would it save me some time if he a bunch in his notes he wants to share

Thanks!

start by anchoring them in real social roles of the time (family structure, trade, religion, conflict, and status), then translate those into skills, traits, and resources that fit your system’s balance. For Ute or Pueblo lifepaths, good starting points are ethnohistorical sources, Spanish colonial records around New Mexico, and anthropological overviews of daily life rather than big events. Build 2–3 core paths first (youth → adult roles) and expand later. To quickly test balance or make random background choices, a simple tool like ruleta de colores can help you spin between plausible cultural options without overthinking it.

Very good advice. Thank you so much!
