Throwing Spears and Hand Axes Versus Bows and Crossbows

Bows count Attack against Attack as a versus test, but throwing a Spear or Hand Axe is a versus test against any weapon but a Bow, Crossbow, or Sling. So Bow, Crossbow, Sling versus Thrown Hand Axe or Thrown Spear is an independent test. Is that correct?

Good question. When you have a bow, Attack against Attack is always a versus test, except against another bow or a crossbow.

Bow: Attack against Attack always versus except against another bow or crossbow
Thrown hand axe: Attack against Attack always versus except against a crossbow or sling.
Thrown spear: Attack against Attack always versus except against a crossbow or sling.

So, Crossbow versus Thrown Spear or Thrown Hand Axe would be an independent test? For both sides of the conflict?

Yep.

I like how Torchbearer handles the slower firing rate of crossbows not by compromising how often you can use it but that it doesn’t get the same ability to make tests versus tests like a bow.
