how is it that some FLGS got it but its listed as pre-order at B&N? second run? I R Conf00zled.
I used it with tonight’s session! The screen and map came in handy. As did the action cards. One bummer is that the conflict checklist (what to do in what order) is on the old character sheets but none of the new references… Still, some oooh’s and ahhhh’s…
Troll and Toad charged my credit card yesterday for my pre-order that I placed in March
Wait. This is only going to be a special edition and BW will not be making more if it runs out this month???
Ummmm… Color me confused.
Burning Wheel is not the publisher.
Hmmm… Well I won’t have the cash for this till mid-late September so I hope they last longer than that or I am going to be disappointed.
Special releases (expanded rules and supplies, not special covers or signed copies like BW Gold early release.), aside from gaming conventions, should always have enough stock to give the fan base a few months to a year to acquire the product. Especially since we were given no date for the release till it showed up at the shop without any fanfare. This has always been my experience and I have been playing since 1981, so I have been to a few dances.
Is there a reason for a short run? I can’t think of any reason to limit this release to such a small scale unless they felt this system hasn’t got a future. Which would be wrong to cut this game short. Also if this was known to be only a short release special edition it should have been made very clear from the beginning that this was the case.
I guess I am very confused and disappointed on how this release was handled, and I realize there are many factors to take in account, but why would a publisher want to limit a product they spent so long to complete and not make enough products to fulfill their profits to their maximum.
I could go into the whole financial reasons why I am confused and no mention of the individual parts of this box set being released in the future has me wondering what happened?
I hope this mention of the Box Set lasting a month is way off for all parties sake becuase it looks like bad business sense and lack of respect for the fans.
I don’t want to get down on anyone but as someone who has fallen for this game and waited for a long time for this to be released and watch the release date fly around and then have it drop in my store without a whisper giving me no time to get funds set aside has me very put off. I am feeling like someone in the line of releasing this product has no respect for us as a consumer.
Sorry but this is how I just feel. And erase this if you wish but how I feel as a potential future consumer can not be erased.
Here is the link to contact the publisher Archaia: http://www.archaia.com/contact/.
Message sent and I will post their reply when I receive it.
I have never seen anything like this before.
For what it’s worth, I saw a copy at one of my FLGS in Ann Arbor. It was the full list price of $70, but if you really need it and you’re near Ann Arbor, Get Your Game On has it.
Hi everyone,
I can’t wait for the Mouse Guard RPG Box Set! But I’m a french guy and Amazon.com is the only way to get it without paying any unwanted import fee (sometimes 50% of the package, ouch :|).
I contacted the customer support team and they told me they don’t have any news from Archaia…
So, thanks to Irmunsul, I’ll contact the publsher and I hope Amazon will have something shortly!
How are people getting this at the game store at what it seems is before its out. ?_?
Yeah.
I ordered from Amazon too.
I guess it’s my own fault, but I’m still pretty upset that FLGS seemingly all around have it in stock but all I can do is wait and see when, or if, a package will arrive from a major shipping entity.
Can’t you cancell the preorder and get your money back?
Bah! Now you’ve got me worried about it, too. Grr, stupid Amazon/mysterious quantities/nebulous release date. Got the last one off Troll and Toad just in case but I had to pay an extra $20 for it.
It was released at GenCon, Amazon is the one with the incorrect release date. It’s not uncommon for distributors of hobby stuff to get their product to Amazon last, either.
Thats strange, at my FLGS they called their distributor that had it coming but not yet received as well. Oh well, I ordered mine online. I supposed We’ll see if i get it. >.<
Oh, what is this - a message from Amazon.com?
Hello,
We have received new release date information related to the order you placed on January 14 2011 (Order# xxxxxx). The item(s) listed below will actually ship sooner than we originally expected based on the new release date:
David Petersen, Luke Crane “Mouse Guard Roleplaying Game Box Set”
Previous estimated arrival date: January 12 2012
New estimated arrival date: September 15 2011
Perhaps the sky is not falling after all…
I was just reading this post when I received a mail from Book Depository saying it was in stock, so I promptly cancelled my Amazon pre-order. The Book Depository has it in stock and for a few quid cheaper. Hopefully next week will see it arrive
Good spot. I’ve just now placed an order there too.
Yeah, my FLGS also still does not have it. Same story from their distributor, which is kind of annoying since I’d prefer to support my FLGS rather than buying online.
